Bristol-based biotech company launches new gut health product
Ferryx, a Bristol-based biotech startup on a mission to improve gut health, has launched its first product: Ferrocalm.
Ferrocalm is a natural food supplement to improve quality of life for those who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other gut conditions. IBS is a common condition, affecting up to 15% of the population, and is associated with symptoms such as stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation. It is a lifelong condition with no cure that can have a significant impact on a sufferer’s day to day life.
Ferryx contains a friendly live bacteria, FX856, developed over 10 years’ R&D at the University of Bristol, which has gut calming properties. Treatment options for individuals with IBS are quite limited and whilst probiotics are popular, conventional probiotics can’t help during an active flare or if someone is stressed. What makes Ferrocalm different is its ability to function and soothe an inflamed or stressed gut.
Ferryx was recently named as a Tech South West One to Watch, alongside 21 other tech scaleups in the region.
Ferryx CEO, Dr Jenny Bailey commented, “The launch of Ferrocalm is the culmination of 10 years’ scientific research, all with the aim of helping people to take control of their condition, alleviate their symptoms, and live the life they want to lead. If we can help one person to feel better, enabling them to go to an event that they would otherwise have missed, take part in sports, go to work, or simply enjoy time with family and friends, then I will be happy. I am delighted to say that we are already seeing some great results from Ferrocalm and we look forward to helping many more people achieve relief from gut conditions”.
Ferrocalm comes in capsules, is gluten-free, dairy-free, and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is available from www.ferrocalm.com where one month’s supply (30 capsules) costs £19.99 and two months’ supply (60 capsules) is currently available at the discounted rate of £29.98.
