South West organisations shine at the National AI Awards 2024

The National AI Awards 2024, held last week at Adastral Park, Ipswich, celebrated the exceptional achievements of AI innovators across the UK.

Among the winners was Player XP, recognised in the AI in Gaming category for its innovative use of AI to enhance player experiences. The company, which develops technology solutions to improve community management and game development, was praised for its work on For the King 2 and partnerships with major gaming firms.

The event organisers said: "Testimonials from major gaming companies like Paradox Interactive and Dovetail Games underscore the effectiveness of Player XP’s tools in enhancing game development and community management."

The University of Bristol also made a significant mark, winning in two categories. The university took home the AI Award for High Tech and Telecom for Project REASON, which is pushing boundaries in AI-native architectures for 6G networks. Additionally, it was named AI University of the Year for its outstanding AI programs that upskill students in collaboration with industry leaders, contributing significantly to the UK's AI landscape.

The university is described by the awards organisers as "an education institution that is providing an outstanding, and impactful, programmes in AI. Their outreach activities and the tailored programmes that have a clear impact on up-skilling and employability in the field of AI. Collaboration with some key players in the field is impressive."

The event highlighted not only the transformative power of AI but also the South West's role as a leading hub for AI innovation in the UK.
