August Tech Amnesty With DonateIT!
DonateIT is hosting a Tech Amnesty in Bath this August, offering a great opportunity to give your unused technology a new lease of life.
DonateIT is a Bath-based charity that bridges the digital divide by collecting unwanted technology, refurbishing it, and redistributing it to those who need it most. Since launching, they've transformed hundreds of devices into opportunities - giving people access to jobs, supporting schools with equal access to learning, and providing essential connectivity to families in need. Their work tackles both digital exclusion and environmental waste, ensuring that perfectly good technology doesn't end up in landfill.
📅 Tuesday 12th August, 10am – 1pm 📍 Share and Repair Shop, George Street, Bath
The event will take place at Bath's Share and Repair Shop, a community hub dedicated to reducing waste through repair, reuse and sharing. Located on George Street, this social enterprise provides a space where locals can learn repair skills, access tools and equipment, and connect with like-minded people committed to sustainable living.
Simon Barfoot, Founder and Trustee of DonateIT, said: "Donating unwanted tech is a simple way to do a good thing for your community and for the planet – research suggests that a lot of unused tech, and phones in particular, are stored rather than thrown away. That's obviously better than throwing them into landfill, but donating them could make a huge difference to someone – and be better for the environment. We have a waiting list of adults and children in need of a device that can help them have a happier, high quality of life with access to learning, support, jobs, homes and services. Please consider donating any unwanted devices to the DonateIT team this 12th August at Bath Share and Repair Shop."
