Good With and Fair4All Finance Collaborate to Boost Financial Inclusion, Unlocking Fairer Credit for Underserved Communities
Pilot project with community lenders reveals new data model can identify 60% more creditworthy applicants previously overlooked by traditional scoring.
Fintech innovator Good With and Fair4All Finance announce a strategic collaboration to tackle financial exclusion in the UK. The pilot integrates Good With’s financial health assessment tool into community lenders' customer journeys, giving underserved applicants with "thin" or adverse credit files a fairer path to access affordable finance by enriching data with psychometric and open banking insights.
Through retrospective analysis of a decline-heavy data set, Good With have combined their rich, descriptive data with real-world repayment performance data in a machine learning model built to predict arrears probability. This new model delivers:
- An 11% uplift in arrears prediction accuracy compared to lenders’ existing models alone.
- The ability to correctly identify 60% of "missed good" customers – previously rejected customers who were actually unlikely to go into arrears.
- Identification of 13% of accepted customers who went into arrears, or defaulted, improving lending portfolio quality.
“Traditional credit scores don’t tell the whole story.” says Good With’s CEO & Founder, Gabriela Isas. “Our Good With inside (GWi) service provides a richer view of financial health. This collaboration proves that with better data, we can make decisions that are commercially sound and socially impactful. We are opening doors for people who have been systematically overlooked.”
The pilot is gaining momentum with a growing pipeline of community lenders with 3 signed on already. The project includes the development of a new underwriting dashboard, co-designed with underwriters to help them make faster, more informed decisions. Declined applicants are offered a referral to the Good With mobile app for free, personalised financial wellbeing support and education.
Diane Burridge, Director of Innovation and Development at Fair4All Finance commented, “This pilot aligns with our mission to increase access to fair financial products. The outcomes are incredibly promising, proving data innovation can create a more equitable financial system. We are proud to support Good With as they scale this important work with community lenders.”
Good With invites community and ethical lenders across the UK who are interested in participating in the pilot to get in touch to learn more about how they can better serve their communities.
