‘Google Maps for Boats’ lets recreational boaters become shareholders
Dorset marine technology company Savvy Navvy has opened its crowdfunding round to the public and is already 135 per cent oversubscribed, having raised more than £480,000 from over 200 investors to date, with further offers continuing to pour in.
The fundraising campaign has just sailed past half a million and is currently live on the investment platform Republic Europe, which remains open to the public. It may be the last chance for everyday boaters to own a stake in a platform that is rapidly gaining traction in the global leisure-marine market.
Often referred to as ‘Google Maps for boats’, Savvy Navvy is known for its intuitive design and smart routing technology. With over three million app downloads worldwide, helping boaters, kayakers, paddleboarders and jet-skiers navigate safely, the company is now expanding beyond mobile - partnering with boat and engine manufacturers to bring its technology directly to onboard systems.
“From the beginning, Savvy Navvy has been shaped by the boating community. Many of our users tell us they feel part of what we’re trying to change in marine navigation. It only felt right to offer them the chance to own a piece of it, too. I’m so pleased to have over 200 new investors on board in this round already,” says Jelte Liebrand, CEO and Founder of Savvy Navvy.
Savvy Navvy is now partnering with boat and engine manufacturers to integrate directly at the helm, allowing boaters to plan at home and navigate on the water without switching systems or re-entering routes.
“We want to give boaters the seamless ‘couch to boat’ experience they expect. Planning from their phone at home and bringing it straight to state-of-the-art displays on the water. This funding round will enable us to continue to launch innovations never seen before in the marine world, bridging the gap between your phone and your boat,” says Jelte, from Poole.
‘Savvy Integrated’ was launched less than 12 months ago to integrate the clutter-free Savvy Charts and smart features into built-in boat management systems, creating seamless navigation solutions for marine manufacturers and suppliers worldwide. Partners include Avikus, Arc Boats, CPAC Systems, RAD Propulsion and more.
The new funding round invites recreational boaters and the broader community to invest alongside existing shareholders. For many, it’s a chance to support a platform they already use while sharing in its future growth.
