Bristol-based Kelpi has been awarded ‘Start Up of the Year’ at the Global Good Awards in London, which recognises businesses under five years old with a purpose-driven approach to innovation and leadership. The award highlights Kelpi’s positive social and environmental impact.

The company also received a Silver award in the ‘Best Product of the Year’ category.

Kelpi is a leading sustainable materials innovation business, which develops seaweed-derived alternatives to plastic packaging.

The Global Good Awards, now in their 10th year, were established to honour businesses, NGOs, charities, and social enterprises that demonstrate sustainability and ethical leadership. The awards are known for their rigorous application process and expert judging panel, comprising over 40 leaders in their respective fields.

Dan Pritchard, director of Tech South West, said: “Kelpi combines innovation with a clear focus on environmental sustainability. Their commitment to creating impactful, purpose-driven solutions sets a high standard for others in the industry.”

Kelpi's recognition comes from a competitive field that included prominent organisations such as Unicef, EY, Microsoft, Octopus Energy, and Triodos Bank.

Kelpi said on LinkedIn: "We were proud to be surrounded by so many like-minded businesses and individuals, all playing their part in creating a more sustainable world."
