Bridgwater-based engineering company Electrified Automation has landed a “milestone” contract with Saietta Group, a London-listed manufacturer of motors for electric vehicles.

Electrified Automation, founded in April 2020 by Lloyd Ash, helps electric motor businesses scale up their production levels by providing high-volume manufacturing processes and equipment. Their contract with Saietta Group will see them develop automated machinery and robotics for the Oxfordshire-based company, in a bid to advance production of their axial flux motors. These motors, once used almost exclusively for stationary applications, are currently being developed for the Asian two and three-wheel vehicle market.

Saietta Group, originally incorporated under the name Agility Racing Limited in 2008, then Agility Global Limtied in 2011, specialise in the production of modular electric drive solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Having become listed on London’s AIM market back in July, the company is now seeking to mass produce its products, aiming to increase their production capabilities to units in the hundreds and thousands.

James Winchester, Electrified Automation’s managing director, spoke of the contract’s significance for the company: “It’s a long-term contract that is going to span out over a year. It’s going to enable us to upskill our staff and our facility here, which is perfect, and contribute what I think is a pretty impressive UK brand to take its brand globally. We are excited to be a part of that and support their team, whilst also developing our inhouse capability.”

Electrified Automation will be looking to recruit for eight new roles in the company resulting from their successful attainment of the contract with Saietta Group. These will include specialist technician and engineering roles, as well as a project manager. It will also allow them to double their capacity for manufacturing at their Beech Business Park facility.

Saietta Group’s chief executive, Wicher Kist, recognised their new partner’s valuable experience in the sector: “Their industry experience will enable us to identify and manage the risks involved as we scale-up production, so we see this as a great partnership opportunity for both businesses. Moving to this next stage of our business growth also means we will be significantly increasing staffing at our facilities in the UK.”
