The fifteenth edition of Secure South West - a cyber security conference - has been announced for March 23rd, 2022 at the University of Plymouth.

It is being organised and managed by the not-for-profit South West Cyber Security Cluster, which says it wants to make the South West a safer place to do business.

Stakeholders from academia, education, industry, as well as individual cyber security skilled practitioners will come together to support and learn from each other.

The event is being funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as part of the government’s £2.6 billion National Cyber Strategy.

This year's theme is cyber security skills and new blood and will focus on developing talent and youth engagement for cyber security. The conference is aimed at providing an opportunity for industry, colleges and universities and also recruitment and training organisations to come together to make the region a safer space for online businesses.

Members of the DCMS skills development team will attend the conference to learn more of the innovative skills development activities underway in the South West and to listen to what stakeholders have to say on regional cybersecurity.

Each speakers will partner with a young person or recently reskilled individual, either in education or who has started to work in the sector, to provide a perspective on their needs in the context of the conference talks. Some of the speakers and panel members include Erika Lewis, Director of Cyber Security and Digital Identity at the DCMS and Laura Wellstead, President of Women in Cybersecurity.

The event showcases some of the innovative educational pilots here in the SW and brings in industry to talk about the changing needs of the sector and how they are facilitating support for those seeking work in this sector.

The event will be streamed online too.
