Cornwall Council shortlisted for digital award
Cornwall Council has been shortlisted for the prestigious Digital Council of the Year award at the Connected Britain Awards, in partnership with technology delivery firm Headforwards.
The Council's ambitious digital transformation initiative is reshaping how public services are delivered across the region. Central to this transformation is the "Single View of the Resident" project, which consolidates data from multiple sources into a comprehensive data warehouse. This allows Cornwall’s 570,000 residents to access a wide range of services through a single platform.
A significant milestone in this digital overhaul is the implementation of Dynamics 365, which has revolutionized the Council’s contact centre. Handling around 1,500 calls daily, the new system offers streamlined and centralized case management, enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency. Additionally, the introduction of the MyCornwall portal empowers residents with self-service options, enabling them to request and manage services online through improved web forms and integrations.
Steve Elsworthy, Head of Information Services at Cornwall Council, commented, “Being recognized on a national level is a great honor and a testament to the hard work of our teams. We're already seeing significant benefits, from improved efficiency in waste management to enhanced HR processes.”
Toby Parkins, Co-Founder of Headforwards, praised the Council’s efforts: “Cornwall Council’s digital transformation is a model for others. This recognition underscores the vision and dedication of their leadership, and we’re proud to be part of this journey.”
Also nominated for an award at the same ceremony is Wildanet, a local broadband provider, contending for the Broadband Provider of the Year award. The winners will be announced at the Excel in London on Wednesday, September 11.
