Brixham-Based Startup Geovey.AI Launches to Transform South West Tourism with "Agentic" AI Technology
Geovey Ltd, a new geospatial technology company born out of the Creative Growth Devon Programme, has announced the launch of Geovey.AI.
Headquartered at the Brixham Laboratory, the company is leaning hard into next-generation artificial intelligence to help the South West’s vital short-term rental (STR) sector reclaim direct bookings and automate destination marketing.
Founded by Dave Barter, a veteran of the geospatial data industry, Geovey.AI addresses a critical challenge for holiday let owners: the reliance on generic mapping tools and Online Travel Agents (OTAs). These platforms often charge high, unpredictable fees and "leak" customers to competitor listings, eroding the host's hard-won brand loyalty.
Geovey’s solution is an AI-powered map and discovery platform designed specifically for STR operators. By offering a fixed-cost, embeddable guide, Geovey ensures that guests stay on the host’s website, protecting customer relationships and driving direct revenue.
Born in Devon, Built for the Region
Geovey Ltd was established following Dave Barter’s participation in the Creative Growth Devon Programme. The company is now actively onboarding its first clients, including discussions with leading South West operators, to validate the platform within the region's thriving tourism ecosystem.
"We are building a tool that turns a property’s location into a story that sells," says founder Dave Barter. "The South West is packed with hidden gems, history, and heritage. Our technology ensures that the property owner, not a third-party ad platform, becomes the authority on their local area".
Pioneering Automated Micro-Destination Marketing
Geovey is pushing the boundaries of generative AI with a new automated micro-destination marketing system. Designed to prepare hosts for the incoming wave of "Agentic Search",where AI agents rather than keywords drive discovery, this system acts as an automated researcher for every property.
The technology works by ingesting property details and using AI to "research" the surrounding area, identifying local amenities, scenic walks, history, and events. It then automatically generates SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) friendly content in a Question/Answer format, which is preferred by AI search agents.
This "hyper-local" content is published alongside Geovey’s interactive maps, wrapping the property details within a rich narrative of the local experience. This ensures that when a potential guest asks an AI, "Where are the best dog-friendly beaches near Brixham?", the host’s property appears as the answer, rather than being buried under generic search results.
Looking Ahead
Geovey.AI is currently rolling out its hyper-local guides to early adopters and lighthouse customers. The company aims to support the region's economy by creating high-value tech jobs in Torbay and delivering a digital capability that keeps tourism revenue within the local economy.
