Morgan Sindall Construction, one of the leaders in the UK built environment, is set to join the growing community of businesses at Exeter Science Park.
The Tier One contractor operates across the UK public and private sectors and delivers projects spanning schools, universities, hospitals and healthcare facilities, retail, office, and leisure environments.
The company will be taking 3,000 sq ft of space in the Science Park’s Ada Lovelace Building, where 28 staff will initially be based, with plans to grow the team over the coming years.
One the best-known names in the industry, Morgan Sindall Construction’s track record in Devon includes the University of Exeter, where the team delivered the £9 million Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) in 2024 - the UK’s first carbon net-zero-in-operation water research facility. It also completed the £13.5 million rejuvenation of the Harrison Building on the Streatham Campus. Earlier work includes the £4.8m pioneering VSimulators experimental facility and £5 million George Parker Bidder Building at Exeter Science Park, handed over in 2020 and 2021, and a £19 million contract for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Morgan Sindall Construction is currently due to start work at Castlebridge SEND School in Ivybridge and Swimbridge Primary School, Barnstaple, along with new Vehicle maintenance Facilities for National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) in Exeter & Plymouth. All projects utilise innovative solutions and a focus on collaboration and local partnerships.
Graham Kingdon, Area Director at Morgan Sindall Construction in the South West, said: “We have successfully delivered key projects in the region over many years and know Exeter is a great place to do business. The city has all the right foundations for sustained economic growth: a first-class university, established clusters in professional and financial services, health and life sciences, and a growing tech scene, all complemented by institutions such as the Met Office. With a high quality of life - close to beaches and moors - as well as strong rail connections and its own airport, Exeter is well placed to attract and retain the businesses and talent that will drive its future. We are proud to play a part in that success story.”
The new Exeter regional HQ builds on Morgan Sindall’s long-established Plymouth office, extending the company’s reach across the Greater South West.
Sally Basker, Chief Executive of Exeter Science Park, said: "Construction in Exeter, East Devon and the wider region has been, and remains, a key sector with real opportunities for innovation. We just need to think about the Passivhaus leisure centre in Exeter, the multi-faith centre at the University of Exeter, the net zero voco Zeal hotel, and other net zero buildings at Exeter Science Park. Exeter Science Park also cut the expected development time for its George Parker Bidder Building from 24 months to 18 months - at the height of the COVID pandemic - by working closely with Morgan Sindall.
"We are therefore very pleased to welcome Morgan Sindall Construction to our growing community. It is an organisation that contributes significantly to the physical and economic infrastructure of the South West, and the location of its regional headquarters at Exeter Science Park will support that work. Its presence adds even greater depth to our community of companies working across engineering, technology, and the built environment.
"Its commitment to the region includes the creation of jobs, support for local businesses, and investment in infrastructure projects including education and healthcare facilities — work that boosts the local economy and enhances the quality of life for residents. As a company, its sustainability aims align with our own, including targets for emissions reduction and a strong focus on research and development."
Exeter Science Park is a hub for science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) businesses and the South West's centre of activity for high-growth innovation. Supporting 750 jobs and generating more than £50 million GVA annually, it marked its 10th anniversary and the completion of the first phase of its development last year.
Morgan Sindall Construction is an industry leader in terms of innovation, including digital construction methods, and actively embraces advances in areas like AI, robotics, and IoT, to improve efficiency, support carbon reduction targets, safety, and overall project outcomes. The company is part of Morgan Sindall Group plc, which has reported annual revenues of £5bn in 2025, employing over 8,500 employees around the UK.
